Contionous Line and Blind Contour Task

During Tuesdays lesson we were pushed to experiment and take part in some timed and structured activities which can be see below.

The first experiment was looking at continous line drawing and focusing on what was infront of us. Therefore my first drawing ould be seen at the top of the page in which i used pencil to capture my sationary that was on my desk. I like how contionous line drawings look as i feel they have a unique look and style that is messy yet effective.

Once i had finished the first drawing i wanted to push myself further so i created the drawing in the bottom right page in which i used a red felt tip. I chose to do this so i could be bolder and braver with my marks. I then contionoued this further by experimenting on coloured paper and using posca pens to create strong bold colours. I love how ths looks and feel it adds a fun element to the drawing. I also like the big marks of a posca pen as altough i can't add fine details.

After we did some contionous like drawing we were next challenged to blind contour, blind contour is when the idea is to look at the subject you are drawing, however, not the page meaning you do not know the placement of your pen making it rather difficult. I decided the best way to tackle this was maybe combine the two by using contionous line drawing so i can attach the elements of the face together. This helped in some elements however th eplacment was stiol not create however, had more of a fun creative look.

Overall i found this challenge rather difficult in some aspects but it was nice to go out of my comfort zone and use bold looser marks and not overthink my drawings when it comes to observation and repotarge.
