As part of our new project illustration and communicaton, it is important for us to look at observational drawings as part of a reportage and editorial style project. Therefore, for our first activity it was important for us to capture and practise observational sketches in our own environments. So on my way home after uni i decided to capture the people of my journey mostly in Stoke train station.
Observational drawing is something far out of my comfort zone so it was fun to push myself further and draw in public. In these sketches i not only captured some portraits but also some landscape elements to bring the whole environment together. I was happy with how these turned out and feel they have some character without having to be too realsitic looking. Moving forward i feel it is important to experiment with media and go further then just pencil which can easily be rubbed out, and instead be braver within my marks.
