Editorial front cover thumbnails

Below shows two sketchbook pages with smaller doodles and drawings that communicate my ideas and looking at how it could develop into a conceptual style drawing.

IN my first page i have  a few different sketches looking at social media known icons and appearances, for example in the middle a simple phone can be see showing what appears to be a social feed such as Instagram. In this feed i included a body type that was not see as the 'beauty standard' and therefore showing the negative impact on social media. Although I like this idea after some feedback and discussion i felt this could have some negative impacts within itself as it is more supporting one body time whilst shaming another for being 'ideal' which is not the message i want to get across. Instead I want my message to say all bodies are beautiful. Whether that is the ideal body or not it is important we look at each other as equals and individuals.

Another Idea i liked was the top left corner. The idea of this thumbnails was to be a girl in her own environment with the wall next to the mirror being covered in 'fitsipration' allowing her to feel negatively motivated  and therefore causing negative body image as she constantly compares to the body in the mirror.

Again although i really like this idea after my group discussion this too had negative connotations instead if the positive inspiration we should be feeling about not only other peoples bodies but more importantly ourselves

On the second page of my sketchbook thumbnails I decided to look at more ideas of compositions and how i could use symbols too communicate the ideas of body dysmorphia. For example in the top left corner you can see this distorted figure. I chose to capture it this way as if eel that this is what the brain feels when processing the true appearance of your body. I feel this could be really powerful and have some social media elements added into it. However, I feel it doesn't link to my idea of creating positivity within ourselves and instead sees it as the negative issue not the positive solution that inspires.

The other illustration that really spoke to me was the poloid collection in the top right, the idea ofr me is that within these polaroid of a rang pf different bodies, all shapes sizes and colours to show this idea of being equal I like this idea more has it has that positive feel within the message rather that looking specifically at one body tine and shaming another.

Moving forward i intend to look at the thumb nails more before decided on three ones which i will develop further eventually refining and choosing one to be my final cover,.
