Final Linework
After working on the developed thumbnails it was time to think about refining the ideas into linework which i could then follow when it came to creating the final pieces of artwork.
The first drawing below shows one of the two spot illustrations. The idea behind this illustration is looking at the idea of diet pills but how they could be turned around into a positive message that fits with my overall theme of body image. Therefore when added to with colour i want the pills to be worded with 'self love' to create a contradiction towards the idea of diet pills and the negative impact they have.
The second spot illustration i did also had a positive view on the idea of body image, however this time i wanted to show a body that is not usually seen on Instagram but instead of getting hate it is shown that it is okay and that this can and should be seen on our social media feeds. As the point of my article is how you can make your social feed into a more positive place for our body image. I am excited to see how this will be developed with colour.
As for the front cover i chose to go with the third design as i liked the personal feel that this has as the girl ca see in her bedroom which is known as a very safe sacred place and she can be seen looking back at herself whilst she reflects on the pictures of other bodies on her wall. The idea of this is that she looks on her bedroom wall the way she would her social media feed, as i used the polaroid format from the second thumbnails to represent that social media idea. I really like how this linework is looking sand thinking when developed further it is going to look super powerful.
Moving forward i intend to think about the colours that will be used and how i can apply them to make an effective piece.
