Idiom Activity
For the reportage project we were to look at different Idioms and how we could communicate the phrase into an illustration. For mine i was given 'feeling under the weather' a saying which is often heard when you are not feeling well. I took this into consideration i began creating thumbnail sketches inspired byb the meaning.
The first illustration i took mor eof as literal approach showing someone amongst heavy clouds with an obvious distressed facial expression. I felt this was the most obvious idea and would really reflect to the viewer. I definitely liked how this looked however felt it could definitely be explored further.
For the second sketch in took more of an abstract approach looking at more of a solution to feeling 'under the weather' for example when thinking of this saying we often think of dark heavy clouds which reflect the feelings of feeling ill, to fix this we usually take tablets or medicine to fix this therefore i wanted to create this contradicting sunshine pill idea that would counter effect the heavy clouds that you feel when ill. I actually really like how this looks and felt the idea was great and took it form a different approach.
For the third sketch i looked at the idea of being surrounded by the feeling therefore showed my character surrounded by heavy clouds and lightening bolts that would reflect the ill feeling and this feeling of being engulfed in illness. I did like this drawing however it definitely did feel weaker within the ideas and felt tool similar to the first.
Overall i was happy with how this project turned out and felt there were definitely some ideas that could be developed. For example moving forward if i was to proceed with this project i think i would focus on the bottle of sunshine pills as i felt it was a very different from the typical under the cloud ideas.
