Lino Printing
As part of our printing experimentation we were to take part in a lino printing workshop. Unfortunately in were unable to attend the printing workshop in uni however i was able to cut my piece before hand and print at home with my own materials. The idea of the workshop was to create a lino print inspired by our self portraits that we developed earlier in the project. I luckily created quite a simple design for my final self portrait and felt i could easily transfer this over and cut into the material.
The idea of the lino is cut away and release the areas that you don't want to be printed, therefore i had to think really careful about what points i would like the ink to be shown. I really enjoyed th ecutting process and felt i was able to explore how i could create my drawing using a different much more difficult technique it was nice to see how i could include pattern within my work using different type of cuts.
During the printing process i wanted to make sure i explored the printing process on different surfaces perhaps looking at different tones and overall textures. I found this rather fun and quite successful my personal favourite was on the pink paper, i wanted to explore the idea of colours of the paper and how it could enhance my design. Overall i am really happy with how these prints came out, i like the style and character is shows and feel it really communicates something that is very different from my usual work. Moving forward, if i was to improve any elements i would think about looking at the finer details maybe seeing if i could swap the blade sizes so i could add much finer sharper details.
